Activities

List what you offer with the rules attached: who it’s suitable for, how many at a time, how many instructors it takes and how long a session runs. Those numbers live on the activity, not on each booking, so there is only ever one answer to what the ratio is.

“Never fewer than” is the box beside the ratio, and it does something a ratio cannot. A ratio scales with the group, so three children at 1 per 6 comes out as one instructor, and so does one child. If an activity should never run with a single adult present, put 2 in that box: a session with one instructor is then flagged however few children are on it.

It works on its own too. An activity that needs nobody per head — a pond, a night hike — can leave the ratio blank and still say two people have to be there.

Blank means no floor, and that is where every activity starts. Nothing has been given a minimum you didn’t set, and the number never caps anything: twenty at 1 per 6 still needs four instructors whatever the floor says. Whichever rule asks for more is the one you see, and the flag says which one it was.

One session at a time per activity. If you have two archery ranges, set them up as two activities — “Archery — Range A” and “Range B”. That’s what lets the system refuse a genuine double-booking rather than guess.
