Customers

The Type — local group, visiting group, school, general public, or your own use — decides which column of the rate card they are charged from, so it is worth getting right when you add them.

The booking count under each customer opens when you click it, showing what they have still to come and what they have been before, newest first. Cancelled bookings stay in the list rather than vanishing, because “they booked and pulled out” is worth knowing.

A booking does not have to have a customer. Leave it blank for your own use — maintenance weekends, work parties, a site closure — and it will hold the dates exactly like any other booking.

The search box above the list looks at names, booking numbers, the fields and buildings booked, your notes and the dates — so “the one with the minibus” finds it if that is what you wrote down. A booking number matches however you punctuate it, which matters when you are reading one off a bank statement.

Searching ignores the two tick boxes and looks at every booking you have, past and cancelled included. That is deliberate: the usual reasons to go looking for a booking by name are that it has been and gone, or that it was called off, and both are hidden from the diary by default. The line under the box tells you when a result is one of those.
